Committee Composition, Terms, and Qualifications
The ARC Advisory Committee is a volunteer board consisting of seven members all appointed to two year terms. Four of the members are appointed by SPARC organization (Friends of the Aspen Recreation Center). These members must be part of SPARC to be appointed. One member is appointed by the Aspen Youth Center Board of Directors. Two members are appointed by the City Council. One to represent the interests of the users of the swimming facilities at the ARC and the other to represent the interests and concerns of the general public. All members, at the time of their appointment, shall be residents of Pitkin County for no less than one year and at least two members appointed by SPARC shall be residents of the City of Aspen at the time of their appointment and during their term on the Committee.

Overview
The Recreation Advisory Committee or ARC Advisory was formed from the SPARC (Friends for the Aspen Sports and Recreation Complex) agreement with the city when the ARC was built in 2003. SPARC was the organization that helped raise funds for ARC build.
The Advisory Committee is composed of citizens of the City of Aspen and it assists the City Council and its professional staff in the use, operation and maintenance of the physical plant and efficient operation of programs and services offered within the Aspen Recreation Center and coordination thereof with the existing City of Aspen Ice Garden and Red Brick Gym facilities.
