Aspen/Pitkin County Animal Shelter Advisory Board

The Aspen/Pitkin County Animal Shelter Advisory Board is volunteer board consisting of five regular members, two alternates and one non-voting member, all serving three year terms. Two regular members and one alternate are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Two regular members and one alternate are appointed by the City Council. One regular member is jointly appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council. The non-voting member is appointed by the Shelter Operator. All regular members and alternate members must be residents of Pitkin County and each regular member and alternate member appointed by the City Council must be a resident of the City of Aspen.

Overview

The purpose of the Board is to make recommendations to the Aspen City Council and the Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners on policies for the operation of the Aspen/Pitkin County Animal Shelter, including, but not limited to, the formulation and implementation of operating guidelines, policies and procedures, annual budget, appropriate reviews, and a capital improvements and maintenance program for the Shelter.
