Emergency Preparedness

Ready and Resilient Community Event

Nearly 100 Aspen residents joined us at the Aspen Police Department on Sept. 22 and learned how to prepare for an emergency – especially a wildfire.

With recent wildfires occurring in the state, as nearby as Meeker and Eagle County, this emergency preparedness event was critical for community members to attend.

Presenters discussed how to assemble a “go bag” with necessities, including important documents and medication, local emergency alert systems, and making a family checklist and understanding what pre-evacuation and shelter-in-place orders mean. This was an extremely dry year, and the Roaring Fork Valley is susceptible to wildfire here at home.

If you were unable to attend this event you can access the slide deck and Microsoft Teams Video recording below. We hope to see you there next year. Follow us on Facebook for future  community learning event announcements.
