VIN Inspection

City of Aspen Residents Only

The Aspen Police Department offers Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) inspections exclusively for individuals who live within Aspen city limits. VIN verifications are conducted for newly purchased vehicles and vehicles transferring out-of-state plates to Colorado. No appointment is necessary. Please park in the VIN Inspection parking spot located in front of the Aspen Police Department. If your vehicle cannot be driven, we can come to your location within the Aspen city limits to perform the inspection onsite.

Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost

$22 – payable by credit card or check only

What to Bring

  • The vehicle needing inspection
  • A valid driver's license 
  • One of the following: 
    • Vehicle Title
    • Most recent vehicle registration
    • Temporary vehicle registration
