Join the City of Aspen for a discussion on the Community Land Trust
Aspen, CO – The city of Aspen invites you to join consultants, Burlington Associates, for a conversation on Tuesday, October 1, from 5:30-6:30 about the Community Land Trust.
The city of Aspen is a leader in the creation of affordable housing – particularly in housing our workforce. As we evaluate the next era of affordable housing in our community, one tool that has not been utilized here, but which has been very effective in other places is a Community Land Trust, or CLT.
CLTs are typically independent, non-profit organizations that acquire real estate and create intentional programming within their assets for a specified social/economic benefit. In Aspen’s case, we are exploring the viability of the use of a CLT model in support of both affordable housing and community serving commercial spaces.
Read on for more information below, and we encourage you to forward to others in the community you think would be interested.
Please RSVP at this link.

What is a Community Land Trust?
CLTs are nonprofit organizations that acquire and manage land for community needs such as affordable housing or commercial space, ensuring long-term affordability and accessibility.
Aspen's Vision The city of Aspen is committed to exploring the feasibility of a CLT as part of its broader goal of creating 500 new affordable housing units by 2026. The project is backed by the DOLA grant, which will fund a feasibility study and community conversations to shape the future of the CLT.
