Seasonal lighting must come down by March 1
Land Use Code stipulates that lights can be up Nov. 15-March 1
Aspen, CO – Per the city of Aspen’s Land Use Code, holiday lighting, now known as seasonal lighting, must come down by March 1.
Seasonal lighting is deemed temporary between Nov. 15 and March 1, as stated in the code. Seasonal lights contribute to light pollution, attract wildlife, increase unnecessary energy usage, and when wrapped around trees, constrict their ability to grow.
Continued illumination of seasonal lighting after March 1, 2025, is a violation of the Land Use Code and could result in fines.
