CDOT conducts Castle Creek Bridge inspection
Aspen, CO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will inspect the Castle Creek Bridge on Sept. 25, 2024. CDOT completes an inspection of this nature every two years to understand the condition of the various components of the bridge that contribute to its overall rating, which CDOT uses for future planning purposes. The inspection is crucial in order to keep the bridge safe for the traveling public. Results from this year's inspection are anticipated in November 2024.
Traffic impacts:
A one-lane closure on the bridge will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to minimize traffic impacts during peak travel times.
During this time, CDOT will manage alternating traffic flows, allowing vehicles to travel both inbound and outbound.
There will not be a detour through the west end of Aspen.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan accordingly and anticipate potential delays during these hours. Alternate modes of transportation such as mass transit or cycling are encouraged. The city of Aspen appreciates the patience of travelers as CDOT conducts this necessary work to ensure the safety and functionality of the Castle Creek Bridge.
