City of Aspen hosts its inaugural Earth Day Exchange and Swap
Event promotes sustainability and community engagement

Aspen, CO - The city of Aspen announces its inaugural Earth Day Exchange and Swap event, taking place on April 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be hosted at the Aspen Fire Station, conveniently located at 420 E. Hopkins Ave. in downtown Aspen. Admission is free, and attendees will be treated to complimentary food while engaging in environmentally conscious activities.

The Earth Day Exchange and Swap aims to foster community connections while championing environmental initiatives. Attendees are invited to bring items such as books, clothes, small household items, frames, art pieces, household décor, games, small outdoor gear items, shoes in good condition, and jewelry. These items should be in good condition and no larger than a table lamp. Furniture, electronics, and personal care items will not be accepted.

Optional drop-off of items will begin at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the event's official start time. This provides an opportunity for participants to contribute their goods before diving into the exchange and swap festivities, but participants can continue to drop off items throughout the event. The event encourages the concept of circularity, reminding attendees that just because they no longer want an item, someone else may find value in it, promoting reuse and giving things a second life.

"We are thrilled to host Aspen's first Earth Day Exchange and Swap event," said Clare McLaughlin, the city’s sustainability programs administrator. "This event not only provides an opportunity for community members to come together and exchange goods but also serves as a platform to celebrate and further environmental efforts in our city. We look forward to seeing everyone there."
