The City of Aspen Responds to First Snow of Season

Aspen, CO – The City of Aspen is committed to maintaining the beauty and functionality of our community, especially during challenges like the recent snowstorm that left tree branches scattered throughout the city. The Streets and Parks and Open Space Departments worked diligently to address the storm’s impacts by ensuring timely street sweeping, snow removal, and tree branch removal.

As part of our commitment to keeping Aspen clean and safe, the Parks and Open Space Department worked promptly to pick up 15 tons of tree branches from the storm-damaged public trees lining Aspen’s streets. As the Parks and Open Space team has made a significant effort to clear away the debris from public property, the city’s branch pick-up service has been completed.

“Our crews were able to ensure that our community’s public spaces remain open and accessible,” said David Coon, City Forester. “We are also working diligently to identify and remove hazards from storm damaged trees. We are grateful for the community’s cooperation and look forward to our collaborative mission in keeping our streets and public spaces clean, safe, and inviting.”

The Pitkin County Landfill is available for residents in need of disposing of their yard waste and tree branches from the homeowner’s property or on sidewalks. This environmentally responsible option offers a convenient drop-off location for a nominal fee. For more information on the proper disposal of yard waste, please visit: https://www.landfillrules.com/.

The City of Aspen Parks and Open Space Department appreciates the patience and understanding of our community members as we collectively work together to preserve the natural beauty of our city.

About the City of Aspen Parks and Open Space Department: The City of Aspen Parks and Open Space Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Aspen residents and visitors by maintaining public spaces throughout the city. Our team is committed to ensuring that our parks, open spaces, and trails are inviting and well maintained for all to enjoy.
