City of Aspen Announces Justin Forman as New Director of Utilities

Aspen, Colo. – Jan. 23, 2023 – The City of Aspen has announced Justin Forman as the new Director of Utilities. Forman’s hire comes after Tyler Christoff, the previous Director of Utilities, was promoted to Deputy Director of Public Works.

“Justin’s skillset will provide us vision and momentum as we continue to deliver our essential services to the community,” said Christoff. “My intention is to stay involved to support Justin in this transition but allow him space and time to put his own touches on leadership of this department.”

Forman began his career at the City of Aspen eight years ago, starting as a Civil Engineer. For the last several years, Forman has served as the Field Operations Manager for the Utility Department. In his current role, Forman oversaw the electric department, water distribution, and instrument control technicians. He is also a part of the Pitkin County emergency support function team.

Forman’s extensive background stems from West Virginia University Institute of Technology where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

“I am lucky and excited to be a part of such a great operational group and the Aspen community that takes such pride in conservation and sustainability,” said Forman. “The Utilities Department does an incredible job of ensuring safe and reliable delivery of water and electricity to our community, and I look forward to building off my passion to oversee these precious resources.”

Forman will begin his role as the Director of Utilities January 30, 2023.
