Aspen, CO – November 20, 2018 – The state of Colorado has appointed Aspen’s long-range planner, Phillip Supino, to serve on its Colorado Complete Count Campaign committee. The goal of the committee is to increase awareness around the state about the federal 2020 census and to motivate residents to respond to ensure the best, most accurate count in Colorado.
Supino has worked as a long-range planner for the City of Aspen for two and a half years and has a master’s degree in planning from the University of Colorado, Denver.
“Not only does the City’s participation in the Colorado Complete Count Campaign put Aspen and our local partners, Pitkin County and Snowmass Village in a leadership role, but membership in this committee will contribute to an accurate and smooth census count in our region,” Supino said. “Also, I want to make sure that the interests of rural Western Slope Colorado are represented at the table. Aspen encourages all Valley residents to participate in the 2020 Census.”
Accurate census counts are significant for local jurisdictions as the data determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and is also used as the basis for distribution of federal funds to communities throughout the country for programs such as job creation, housing, education, road building, infrastructure programs, public health programs, and emergency preparation.
Supino will meet with the Colorado Complete Count Campaign committee throughout the next year and a half.
