City of Aspen is accepting applications for Fourth of July
Applications are now available for the parade, Grand Marshall, and Community Village

Aspen, CO – The city of Aspen is proud to be organizing the 2024 Fourth of July festivities featuring a parade, led by a grand marshall, a community village, and a new voting system. This year’s event theme is “Yeti to Party.”

The city of Aspen special events team is excited to announce that community members will be able to vote for their favorite parade float, which is a departure from the previous voting method where a panel of judges determined winners.

“This year, the community will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite parade floats via a QR code,” said Wesy Armour-Cook, the city’s special events assistant manager. “We are excited about this new level of public involvement and are thrilled to engage with the community by having parade watchers participate.”

The voting categories include Most Patriotic, Best Theme, Most Kid-Friendly, Crowd Favorite, and Wet N’ Wild.

Applications to participate in the parade are available at https://aspenspecialevents.com/4th-of-july/ and will close on June 20.

This year, the community village will be located on the Cooper Avenue pedestrian mall and will feature local artists, small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations. Applications can be found at https://aspenspecialevents.com/4th-of-july/ and are subject to the approval of the Fourth of July Parade and Festival Board of Directors.

The city is also accepting nominations for the grand marshall of the parade. The person being nominated should either live or work in Aspen and have contributed to the community in an impactful way over the past years. Nominations will be reviewed by the Parade Committee and their decision will be made at the end of June.
