City of Aspen Hosts Screening of "Paradise Paradox" Film to Address Mental Health Crisis in America’s Mountain Towns

Aspen, CO - The City of Aspen Special Events Department is proud to announce the upcoming screening of "Paradise Paradox," a groundbreaking film that delves into the critical issue of the mental health crisis affecting America’s mountain towns. The film, produced by Olympic ski racer Bode Miller in collaboration with Alterra Mountain Company, seeks to raise awareness and inspire actionable change. This film screening is the second annual winter event at the Wheeler Opera House focused on bringing together people who live and work in the community year-round and which shines a light on the important topic of mental health in mountain communities.

Event Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, November 29
  • Venue: Wheeler Opera House
  • Admission: FREE (Sign up at Aspenshowtix.com)
  • Doors Open: 5:00 pm | Film Starts:** 5:30 pm
  • Panel Discussion: Immediately following the film
  • Post-Film Gathering: Limelight Hotel (after the panel discussion)

Wesy Armour-Cook, Special Events Assistant Manager, shared her thoughts on the film: "It truly hits all the not-so-pretty aspects of how our mental health is affected by living in a mountain resort town. With this film, we are trying to spread the message of nurturing our mental health to our new seasonal employees as well as our longstanding locals."

Valley mental health experts and the Director of Resilience and Mental Well Being for Alterra Mountain Company, will participate in a panel discussion following the film. Nonprofit agencies will have educational information and materials regarding mental health and other community resources available before and after the film.
