ASPEN, Colo. – April 16, 2020 – The City of Aspen has contracted TS&L, LLC to replace the traffic signal at CO 82 and Aspen Airport Business Center Road. The signal was damaged in February when a City dump truck struck the pole.  The project will begin on Monday, April 20. Cost of the project is $71,980.00.

“We recognize that this is the best time to make this safety repair due to decreased traffic volume on the highway,” said Raquel Flinker, City of Aspen Project Manager.

SCHEDULE and IMPACTS

Monday, April 20-Thursday, April 23: Shoulder and one lane closure Eastbound (EB) for project to begin. Expect delays.

Monday (4/27), The signal pole will be relocated and the mast arm (this is the pole that holds the signal heads and signage) will be set. EB traffic will be stopped for up to :30 minutes. EB traffic will be diverted through the airport access road.

Tuesday (4/28), One lane alternating EB will be closed to mount traffic signal heads and signs.

Wednesday (4/29), The intersection will be controlled by flaggers in order to switch from the temporary signal to the new signal. Delays expected.

If you have questions about the project please contact City of Aspen Engineering at 970-920-5080.
