Construction Site Closure Notice for Aspen

ASPEN, CO. – March 24, 2020 – In order to comply with the March 23, 2020 Pitkin County health order, residential and commercial construction sites may continue minimum basic operations until March 31, 2020 for the purpose of their workers safely securing and closing their construction sites.  All site workers doing closing procedures must follow the six-foot social distancing separation guideline*.

No construction will be allowed beginning April 1, 2020 until April 17, 2020 per the health order. Essential Infrastructure projects are exempted from this order so long as they are in compliance with social distancing requirements.   During this pause in construction, for emergency repairs to ensure basic life safety in commercial and residential structures, contact Chief Building Official Mike Metheny at 970-319-5117.

Those workers that need to extend close-up procedures to Sunday, March 29 in order to safely secure their site, will need to submit a request to do so to the Engineering Department at CMPHelp@cityofaspen.com or by phone 970-920-5080.  Please contact the department by 5 p.m. on Thursday March 26. Only work associated with securing the site will be allowed on Sunday, March 29.

Exemptions:
Plumbers, electricians, exterminators, internet or broadband providers and other service providers who offer services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, essential activities, and essential businesses are considered exempt from the public health order.

* "Social Distancing Requirements" is defined as: for all people not of the same household, maintaining a distance of at least six (6) feet between people. You may not be inside of six feet for longer than ten (10) minutes, should wash hands with soap and water for a least twenty seconds as frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer, covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces and not shaking hands.
