Aspen, Colorado – May 30, 2019 – The City of Aspen is pleased to announce Tracy Trulove will be its next communications director.  Trulove was selected from three finalists for her experience implementing strategic communications, crisis communications, and media and customer relations.  Most recently, Trulove has worked as the Region 3 communications manager for the Colorado Department of Transportation since 2013.

The communications director is a new position for the City of Aspen, created in response to both Council’s and the community’s need for more robust information from the City.  The communications director will be responsible for the management and strategy of citywide communications, public outreach, and engagement.  This position will serve as one of the primary liaisons between the City and the public.

“I am excited for the expertise that Tracy will bring to the community conversation in Aspen,” said Sara Ott, Interim City Manager.  “Her local ties and years of experience working with CDOT are assets to help serve the needs of our community.”

With an operating and capital budget of more than $139 million, 325 employees, more than 20 departments, and several multi-million dollar capital projects, the City of Aspen is an organization with a multitude of policy and project information to communicate with an ever present need to strategically and comprehensively present information to the public.

“This position was interesting to me because the City is making a commitment to the community to refresh and grow the communications outreach and team, said Tracy Trulove, future City of Aspen communication director.  “Aspen is a vibrant city with an active resident and visitor base.  To have the opportunity to lend my skills to the communications mission is an honor and a privilege. I’m excited to begin working with the staff and community to further our outreach and engagement efforts.

Trulove’s first day with the City will be July 1, 2019 with a salary of $110,000.
