City of Aspen launches Facilities Master Plan for Aspen Golf Club campus
Community survey open March 1–31 at aspencommunityvoice.com

Aspen, CO – The city of Aspen Parks and Recreation Department is launching a comprehensive facilities master plan for the Aspen Golf Club campus and is inviting the community to help shape its future by participating in a public survey open March 1 through March 31 at aspencommunityvoice.com.

For almost three decades, the Aspen Golf Club campus — home to golf, tennis and Nordic activities — has served as one of Aspen’s most valued recreation hubs. The facilities are ready for thoughtful reinvestment and long-term planning to ensure they continue to meet our growing community needs for the next 50 years.

The master plan will focus on improving and modernizing facilities that support golf, tennis and Nordic programs. The golf course itself is not changing. Instead, the plan will evaluate buildings, operations, staff workspaces, programming opportunities and sustainability improvements across the campus.

“This is an exciting opportunity to reimagine how this campus serves our community,” said Aspen Golf General Manager Jim Pratt. “We want to hear directly from users, staff, families and residents about what’s working, what isn’t, and what should be prioritized as we invest in the future.”

Project goals include:

  • Increasing operational efficiency across the campus.
  • Providing a higher level of service and expanding programming.
  • Reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency.
  • Providing adequate workspaces and storage for golf, junior golf, Nordic and tennis staff and leaseholders.
  • Designing a sustainable master plan to guide this investment for the next 50 years.

The online survey is designed to gather feedback about community experiences, expectations and priorities. Questions are concise and focused on identifying improvements that matter most to the diverse users of the facility.

Community members who have not visited recently are encouraged to stop by, walk in and around the facilities, enjoy the restaurant, and then share their impressions through the survey.

The facilities master plan process begins with this discovery and listening phase. Following the survey period, the city will host a community town hall on April 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the Aspen Golf clubhouse to share initial findings and continue the conversation.

“We’re building this plan with the community, not just for the community,” Pratt said. “Every perspective helps shape the long-term vision for this campus.”
