CHANGES TO BUILDING INSPECTION REQUESTS STARTING IN THE NEW YEAR

In order to best serve our customers and ensure the timely provision of inspection services, the Building Division is implementing some minor service changes.  Beginning January 4, 2021, the City of Aspen Building Department inspection team will be changing its inspection scheduling procedure for Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, and Energy Code inspections.  In order to get those inspections scheduled, the inspection cut off time will be 7:30 p.m. the prior evening, not 7 a.m. the day you want the inspection.  This includes inspections requested for the days following weekends and holidays.  For example, a Monday inspection must be requested by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.  This change is necessary in order to help our inspection team manage its workload more efficiently.

As in the past, contractors will still be able to schedule inspections several days in advance.  Inspection request procedures for all other inspections remain unchanged at this time.

If you have questions, please contact the Building inspectors:  Steve Feder at 970-274-2844 or Mitch Miller at 970-309-2354.

Know Before It Snows

The City of Aspen works through the winter to clear snow and ice. With more than 150 inches of snowfall each year, we need your help to keep everyone safe on our streets and walkways.

Remember to shovel walks and driveways within three hours of when the snow stops falling or after daybreak, whichever comes later. Snow and ice should not be placed on or against a fire hydrant, sidewalk, roadway, or loading and unloading area of a public transportation system.

Also, be sure to move permitted vehicles in residential areas every 72 hours. And, there is no parking between 3 a.m. - 7 a.m. where street signs are posted. These precautions ensure that our snowplows can get through.

City of Aspen Hosts Free Scavenger Hunt

Skiers on Parade Hunt Offers Locals and Guests a Fun Adventure in Downtown Aspen

Scavenger Hunt

The City of Aspen has partnered with a Denver based company, Let’s Roam, to host a free scavenger hunt through downtown Aspen called Aspen Skiers on Parade. The adventure begins with downloading a free app and then following clues and gathering points as participants move from various points of interest downtown. Working alone or as a team, players will learn unique facts about Aspen and will likely visit a few overlooked destinations.

At each clue location, a tiny skier statuette will greet players to maintain the Aspen spirit and keep participants on the right track. For those who complete the hunt correctly, a free cookie awaits as a prize…but you must play to figure out how to get it.

To join the hunt, players must download the free Let’s Roam app for Apple or Android or go to www.letsroam.com/aspenskier from your mobile device. Then users will create a login and enter the code: aspen skier. Play begins December 22, 2020 and is offered through April 1, 2021.

Please adhere to Aspen’s Mandatory Mask Zone rule and wear a face covering while hunting.
