Dear City of Aspen Taxpayer,
 
Changes to Sales and Lodging Tax Deadlines and Requirements:

City of Aspen retailers that are required to file a sales tax return for March sales - due on April 20, 2020 - may extend remittance of the tax payment to May 20, 2020.  This one month extension is being provided as a mirror to the State tax deferral process for the same period, with the caveat that businesses must be current on their February tax remittance (previously due March 20, 2020).  Additionally, note that this is a deferment of the tax payment, it is not a deferral of the tax filing requirement by April 20 – please complete and send in your tax filing on time regardless of taking advantage of this one-month payment deferral.  If your account is current and a filing is received by April 20^th, the City will waive all penalties and interest associated with the one month deferral.  If you do not wish to take advantage of this deferral, please remit collected tax as usual – this is the preferred option but the above noted allowance is available, if desired.
