2026 sales tax adjustments
New rate now in effect
Aspen, CO – Reminder to residents, businesses, and visitors of the adjustment to the local sales tax rate effective as of Jan. 1, 2026.
Following voter approval of multiple ballot measures in the November 2025 election, the combined sales tax rate increased to 10.35% within Aspen city limits. The increase reflects the adoption and extension of several voter-approved, purpose-specific sales taxes across multiple jurisdictions. These taxes are all state collected taxes, reported to the Colorado Department of Revenue.
The updated sales tax rate effective in 2026 includes:
- City of Aspen sales tax: 2.70%
- Pitkin county sales tax: 3.60%
- Roaring Fork Transit Authority sales tax: 0.40%
- State of Colorado sales tax: 2.90%
- Aspen Fire Protection District sales tax: 0.50%
- Confluence Early Childhood Development Service district sales tax: 0.25%
